Dedicated to the memory of Aaron Michael Govern

This site is a tribute to Aaron Michael Govern, who sadly passed away peacefully on Tuesday 28th April 2020 after a long heroic brave fight with cancer these past two years.

Aaron, the love of my life, my soulmate was a wonderful husband, a kind and caring father to sons Thomas and James. Father-in-Law to Ellen and much loved Son of Anna and Mike will be dearly missed but his memory will live on in all of us forever.

Aaron charisma shone through, with all those he met. Aaron had many friends, some since school others developed through his love of music, most sports but especially motorsport and horse racing. These friends spanned the UK and indeed the world as his passions took him to many countries. They remember him as a loving family man, a loyal friend, who was articulate and who also possessed a wicked sense of humour. In recent time Aaron found strength and support from helping to reconnect many of these friends as a community once again, something they will always be grateful for. Aaron will be sorely missed but in his memory continues to live on.

Due to these unprecedented times with this global pandemic, this will restrict the way we get to say our usual goodbyes. We would ask therefore that you share your messages of condolences, love and stories of times shared with Aaron and will take comfort from this memory page.

Aaron’s funeral is yet to be finalised.  Due to COVID restrictions will be only for 6 of his immediate family sadly.  Details will follow shortly.

We are looking to hold a Celebration of his Life later in the year for all his Family/Friends to join us when safe to do so and are anticipating this to be around October/November time.  We will update this page and will be guided by Government guidance as to how quickly this can occur.

We would kindly ask for family flowers only on the day of his funeral.  Donations can be left in his memory for Aaron’s chosen charity, Myton Hospice on the link on the side of this page.

The Myton Hospices, Myton Lane, Warwick, CV34 6PX  (Registered Charity 516287) provides End of Life care providing Myton at Home Service enabling people to spend their remaining days in the comfort of their own home surrounded by their loved one.  We are forever indebted to their care and support that they have given to all of us.

"If you work hard and be kind, amazing things will happen." - Aaron Michael Govern

Thoughts

Aaron - you were beautiful soul and a true friend. I will miss you so much; your kindness and bear hugs, your infectious smile and rubbish jokes that always brought a smile (even if I didn’t always get them). That twinkle in your eyes and wonderful laugh. Never had a person had a truer and loyal friend than you. Rest in peace and continue to spread your joy. I will remember you always and thank you for being part of my life and such a wonderful friend xxx

I'm completely heartbroken that Aaron has left us, I'll always treasure the memories growing up of summer holidays in Moynalty, Reillystown and Dublin, with my cool cousin from England bringing all the latest technology and newest trends with him. I think Aaron was the first person I ever saw with a walkman CD player back in the 80s. I didn't have an older brother but Aaron was like my older brother, and all us younger cousins in Dublin, Drogheda and Moynalty looked up to him. The older cousins did too, we had great fun in Dublin as well, going out to the connaughton's in Raheny and great adventures with Hugh Connaughton (Hugh was also our taxi 😍). You were the pride and joy of your parents Michael and Anna, and also your grandparents Tom and Kathleen, you were just the coolest kid. I can't wait to get to my parents house after this pandemic to root out the old photos in their attic of those happy times. I'm so happy to also have the wonderful memories of your trip to Dublin in December 2015, walking down Grafton street, arms linked (because we we're freezing, despite many layers) dragging you into Penney's on O'Connell street to buy woollie hat and gloves because I was cold, and of course going to see U2, we had a ball. Everyone seemed to know you in Dublin, even though this was my turf you were introducing me 😂 They're unforgettable memories, I'm so glad you were part of our lives and for all the great times we had. Sending love and condolences to Amanda, Thomas, James, and to Ellen, baby Cillian, uncle Michael and Anna xx 💞💞 RIP Aaron 💐 Love Yvonne, Paul & Family xx

The boys and I have spent time remembering Aaron and Andy together. The rugby matches. The chats about music and gigs, present and past. The drinks and the giggles, oh there were lots. We particularly remember Abu Dhabi the planning, organising and fund raising then so many achievements, so much pride. We remembered a few hours away from the competition when we all spent time relaxing together in the pool. That was great...smiles, laughter, banter and fun. Exactly how they should both be remembered. Aaron will never leave our hearts, he’s up there now, waiting with Andy. Tanya, Ryan and Luke x
